Writing for the Dream!

Everyday there is a chance to dream.  Each day we have that chance, we should do everything in our power to dream for at least a few minutes.

Today I was given the opportunity that I’m given every Monday and Thursday of the week.  I was able to write with my writing family.  They are the best.  I get to write along side them in a virtual room.  We are from all over the world: United States, Canada, Panama City, Australia, and United Kingdom.  I’m sure there are more places, and my apologies to those I did not name, but isn’t it amazing that people from all over the globe can have an hour and a half together to write and talk about writing together.  It’s not only amazing; it’s something I would never have dreamed of a couple of decades ago, but somebody did.  And now, we can gather in a group as if we were in the same room and talk, laugh, make interestingly off-color jokes, gross the only man who was able to join us today out, write for an hour, then tell one another how wonderful we are after a writing session.  Okay, we didn’t quite toot our own horns, but we did tell one another how far along we got and what we wrote about today.  We enjoyed catching one another up on our lives and the lives of our present characters.

The dream is real for me.  I may not be a bestselling author, but I’m living my dream.  I’m writing nearly every day.  I’m working toward my own goals as a writer: being published and making a living with my writing.  I’m writing with a group of wonderfully talented writers.  I learn something new every time we meet whether it’s a new writing technique, how to market, what to do with my ideas, or a new editing practice.  I learn about history, new stories to read, other places to check out other writers’ work, and much more.  The writing life is exciting for me, as I’m a lifelong learner.  I swear I’ve been learning since I learned to read.  Of course, I learned before I could read.  It’s just, for me, reading opened a whole new world, and writing enlarged it and gave me more ways to be creative.  I’m so glad to welcome you into this world of mine.

With that said, I have been writing since I was 12-years-old.  Can you imagine holding on to a dream that would possibly never come true?  I did, and I even gave up once.  Now, I write all the time.  Lately, I’ve been inundated with new ideas.  So, I have been having to outline them to work on later because I am working on a novel called The Cursed.  The first book, The Circle, is on Amazon Kindle.  Both of these book follows the feud of a couple families of witches.  However, I have another novel that is presently in a contest.  I try my best to write as much as I can.  I love to write.  I think the only thing I love more is reading.

As I’m sure you’ve surmised, today’s theme is dreaming.  I’m not talking about sleeping and having vague unformed pictures that we piece together to make a whole.  Well, that is kind of how life does us.  We have this purpose, this force, driving us.  Just like a writer’s character has this motivation that makes him move forward, stand still, or even retrace his steps.  We do the same in life.  We have moments of living in the past, fears that make us remain stagnate, and then, something comes over us, takes a hold of our spirits and fills us with momentum to go the distance.  My favorite piece of advice that I have received from entirely too many writing blogs is, “Don’t wait for inspiration.”  It is the truest statement of all that you’ll hear if you have a dream.  If you have a dream, a force pulling you in a direction, go for it.  Don’t wait for an attack of confidence; do what Nike says, “just do it!”  if you don’t pursue the dream, the dream isn’t going to pursue you.  find your wings and soar.  It’s the only thing we can do for ourselves in this life.  Dreaming isn’t only for those who have means to get a dream; it’s for every one of us.  I dreamed.  I felt fear and at one time in life was in despair of ever having my dream.  Can I still fail?  Only if I don’t believe.  I believe and the dream is real inside me; I have to continue to try to make it a reality externally.  I look forward to sharing the journey of my dream with you and the world!  Keep a look out for The Cursed.  I’ll keep you up to date on my progress and the process.

Stay well.  Happy dreaming! And, Keep creating!

I’m so glad that you are living your best life by writing. You definitely don’t have to be published to be a writer. Just writing everyday, no matter what it is, is such a liberating, amazing, wonderful experience. I am starting to experience that myself since I started to blog again. It’s been great & I’m so glad that I’m finding the time to do it.
Cheers,
Helen

Thank you so much for your comments and your encouragement. It is greatly appreciated. I have loved riding for many years, but I didn’t do it. It’s just one of those things. Sometimes the head gets in the way of the heart, and dreams go by the wayside. Now, I want the dream and I intend to continue trying to have it. I’m looking forward to sharing my dream with those who want to be a part of it. Thank you for being a part of it! CSA
