Happy New Year!

Hooray! It’s finally 2025! Hoping it’s going to be a good year for me and for you!

Whenever we begin the year, we’re conscious of who we are. What we want to change. How we intend to change it, and hopeful for the upcoming challenges.

Last year, I began the year with 24 goals for 2024. I know, right? it sounds absolutely daunting. Believe it or not, it wasn’t all that bad. Did I achieve every single goal? Nope. I’m not too bummed about it, though. I experienced so many different losses in several different ways during 2023, so I was really glad to see the backside of it.

Let me explain. First of all, I wrote a list of possibilities. Let’s remember that we’re human, and not super human. I was excited for my new year. I was working then. I was filled with hope. I was also coming off of one of the worse years of my existence. I was like what did I do to deserve this.

Then, 2024 came, and by the 7th of the month, I was laid off due to downsizing and loss of contracts. I was back in the pit again, but I refused to let that keep me down. The key to staying in the game is to fall and get up again. I’m sure we’ve all heard a rendition of that sentiment before. I’m excited that I only wallowed in my pity party for a day or so. It’s okay to remember the bad shit. Hell, it happens. It’s even okay to take a time out or sidebar.

I had my moments several times during 2024, but like the phoenix, I rose again for another day, facing the conflagration that life can be.

There’s a saying that I’m sure we’ve all heard before. I swear I should have learned my lesson by now, but I’m still like a moth to a flame, I’m drawn to planning. The saying is: “we plan and God laughs.” Now, that sounds kind of sinister, but the truth is that “we plan and life laughs at us.”

Let’s just say that life laughed at me a lot last year. Still, it was a damn good year despite that. Am I going to do another list of goals this year. Damn right! it’s about gearing up for the days to come. It’s like putting on armor for the year. I aspire. I write them down. I list my objectives to get them accomplished, and I couldn’t believe how much of 2024s list I actually accomplished. I finished the rough draft of the third novel in a Romantasy series I’m working on. I started working on my blog again, and I’ve started my e-newsletter and email list. That’s just a few of the items that was on my list. I had items like “pay better attention to calendar alerts.” I think I did a very good job of this, considering that the year before I would just let the alert go off and never even glanced at the notification.

And like any other item on any list, it’s the small items that seem to matter the most. My calendar was a lifesaver this past year, and I’m sure I’ll do even better at paying attention to the calendar’s events this year, as I’ve made a habit of peering at the phone even when I’m half asleep.

I’ve waxed poetic about last year because it is good to reflect on what we’ve achieved. We can find out what we did right. what worked for us. Why it worked. What didn’t work. Put the items we didn’t quite achieve on our new list after we’ve assessed whether they mean enough to follow us into the new year. There are items I didn’t quite achieve that I want to carry with me because they are important to me. there are items I’ll leave behind because they no longer apply. Looking back isn’t all bad. Now that I’ve reflected. I’ll go forward to write my new goal list for 2025.

I’ll let you know what some of those goals are. I hope to hear what yours are also. Maybe they will appeal to me. I often see what someone else thought up and am not only surprised by their cleverness, but am excited to add whatever appeals to me. So, don’t be shy! Share your goals and aspirations for this coming year, and feel free to share a few of your dreams with me or your tribe. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Have a lovely and prosperous 2025!

Till next we meet,

Happy reading & keep creating! we’re going to have an AWESOME year!

Yours in love & magic!
