ingredients forRomance

Ever wondered what goes into Romance? Here’s a few ideas that we can put into the recipe to get a well done, Romance. Is it magic?

An ornate black and gold fountain pen floats above an old parchment on a wooden desk, leaving a glowing, magical trail as if writing by itself. There are sparkles and stardust swirling around the pen. In the background, a window reveals a star-filled night sky. Old books, inkwells, and a lit candle in an elaborate holder decorate the scene, creating a cozy, enchanting atmosphere. At the top of the image, the glowing script reads: Magic Mondays.

welcome to Magick Mondays, where the world is slightly enchanting: relaxing, lovelier; and filled with charming enjoyment.

Often, romance is considered formulaic. Perhaps it is to those who don’t actually read the genre, but I’m here to tell you romance is downright magical as it evolves through its scenes and delights.

If romance were a charm, incantation, amulet, potion, or spell, what would go in?

Would there be cinnamon and red rose petals for passion and longing?

Or, would we try pink rose petals for love and lavender extract and rosemary leaves for attraction and long-term relationships?

I forgot to ask about ashes of rose quartz or amethyst dust. Will they be stirred into a brew or cast into a caldron?

Maybe we’ll be more practical and offer our sexy hunk a  cup of his favorite coffee in a mug with rose quartz threaded through its ceramic, and a cinnamon bun made with the most careful time and attention.

Didn’t you know time and attention is as much a part of magic as the ingredients, elements, and incantations.

Romance pulls in those magical elements of hope, love, and honor through its characters.

Its ingredients is in its tropes such as enemies to lovers, the love triangle, friends to lovers, forced proximity, sunshiny versus grump and many more.

We weave our story’s tapestries with several elements and make sure they’re not as obvious as people think.

While most people know the tropes, they are delivered through different styles and wording. There are those who are more straight forward in their writing. The language is strong and concrete. Then, there are those of us who try to trick the eye with red herrings, only to offer a happily ever after (HEA) in the end. You’ll have your poetic souls, who spellbind you with lore, abstract analogies, and prose to die for. These are the  romances that weave magic directly into the romance with its incantations, spells, and true love as victor and hero.
