Clennell Anthony resides in Florida and was a storyteller before she could write. Her mother often regales people with stories of Clennell sitting in her lap and making up stories from the picture books Clennell had as a girl. In some ways, she feels as if she was born to tell stories. In other ways, she says she wonders what she’s doing. Sometimes it feels as if she’s following a life calling or purpose, and other days, she feels like throwing her computer and the dream of being a published author out the window. She is moody, have angsts, and tend to give up when she doesn’t get her way.
At the age of 16, she wrote her first moody prose. She’s, since, started and never finished about five novels; at the age of 26, she graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in journalism that she never used. At 28, she graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. By this time, she was discouraged and decided to put her writing and the dream aside, as if it were a child’s toy, she had grown too old for. She was a customer service representative at LC Industries in Durham, North Carolina for four years and thought that’s all she would be.
When she moved back to Florida in 2010, she decided she needed to get a degree in a field she could receive a wage for. She spent five years getting a Master’s of Science in mental health counseling from Capella University and graduated in 2017 and went straight to work as a substance abuse counselor, but Clennell found that she was still a writer. She still harbored the dream. Now, here she is, trying a different way this time.
She wants to establish a support group, a relationship with other like-minded writers, gain a readership, and eventually publish her first completed novel. Most of all, Clennell wants to read and write with you. So, welcome to the site, and enjoy your stay.
